IECnet holds its position among the Top 30 global Networks, according to the new IAB rankings - with room to develop stronger!

IECnet, with a membership spanning over 72 firms (in 2024) across 60 countries, has reported a total turnover of 176.022.275 USD for 2023/24. Regionally, Europe leads with 59,98%, followed by the Asia Pacific at 28,63%. Middle East and Latin America contribute 3,35% and 3,19%, respectively, while North America holds a share of 3,24%, and Africa contributes with 1,6%. These figures illustrate IECnet's diverse global presence and its practical approach to international professional services.

Spectrum Auditing, headquartered in Dubai, is a well-established firm with a decade of experience in providing comprehensive financial and advisory services. Since its inception in 2015, the firm has expanded its presence globally, operating across India, Oman, and the USA (Texas) through a strong associate network. The 2024 IFAC (International Federation of Accountants) Ordinary Council Meeting took place from 6-7 November in Paris, announcing key developments. Anis Wahabi and Vincent Domon represented IECnet at the meeting.

Jean Bouquot was elected as President, with Taryn Rulton as Deputy President, while new members and board appointments were confirmed. Topics included global sustainability reporting, AI's impact on accountancy, and professional development initiatives. IFAC emphasized ethical AI use, enhanced sustainability frameworks, and virtual Professional Accountancy Organizations (PAOs).

The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) was also discussed, aiming to enhance transparency and accountability across EU companies by mandating robust ESG reporting. France was highlighted for leading its implementation. The International Public Sector Accounting Standards Board (IPSASB) presented progress on public-sector sustainability standards, focusing on climate-related disclosures and accountability for governments and public entities.

The IECnet AGM 2024 in Mauritius featured a range of insightful presentations. The program began with a session exploring Mauritius' offshore sector, including tax treaties and related aspects, followed by a presentation on virtual assets. The next day, delegates attended sessions on amendments to IFRS accounting standards, situational management and leadership skills, and IECnet’s own initiatives, IECnet life (Commitment Counts) and IECne(x)t. The afternoon included an introduction to Barcamp-style discussions, where participants engaged in two dynamic sessions to close the conference.

During the General Assembly, we welcomed Godfrey Kamau from Lexan (Kenya) as a new member. Redouane Stoti and Bruno Lopes were newly elected to the Board, while Vincent Domon and Pallav Acharya were re-elected. Many thanks to Miloud Stoti and Ismael Bustamante who have stepped down from the Board.
