It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we share the sad news of the passing of our member in Lebanon, Mr. Adel Karim, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, 16 August 2026.

For many years, Adel was not only a dedicated member of the IECnet family but also a trusted friend to many of you. He believed in the value of international cooperation, professional excellence, and the friendships that IECnet fostered. His integrity, generosity, and dedication left a lasting impression on his firm and on those who had the privilege of knowing him.

While we mourn this great loss, we remain fully committed to carrying forward the vision and values that he instilled in Karim & Co. His firm and its offices will continue the journey he began, with the same dedication and professionalism. Ms. Fawaz, Partner of Karim & Co., will represent Karim & Co. within IECnet and will continue to strengthen the relationships that Adel valued so deeply.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Adel's family and his team. May he rest in peace, and may his memory continue to inspire us all.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved friend and colleague, IECnet Chairman Mr. Vincent Domon, who left suddenly and unexpectedly.

Vincent’s professional career began some 35 years ago at Cecaudit International, the firm where Mr. Hervé Abouly, one of the three founders of IECnet, was the main partner. This also explains why IECnet’s registered office is located in Champs-sur-Marne.

As a young accountant, Vincent developed professionally there and soon took on a leading role within the firm. He was not only an accountant and tax advisor, but also an auditor and a teacher of accountancy and tax matters. Even at that stage of his career, he was recognised as a colleague of international calibre. He spoke three languages fluently, possessed exceptional professional expertise and continuously contributed new ideas and initiatives.

Over the years, Vincent’s professional responsibilities and international commitments expanded considerably, and his partnership at Cecaudit International could no longer accommodate the full scope of his work. He therefore decided to join Endrix, bringing with him his extensive professional network, including his connections within IECnet.

Vincent first joined the IECnet Board in 2007 as Treasurer and soon became Chairman, serving in this position until 2014. He was re-elected to the Board in 2020 and had served as Chairman ever since.

He led IECnet with great foresight, dedication and a constant stream of new ideas. He was always open to different perspectives and understood how to bring people from various countries and cultures together. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to IECnet, he was named an Honorary Member.

Vincent was an exceptionally warm-hearted, intelligent, and inspiring person. His international outlook, openness and genuine interest in people shaped every encounter with him. He travelled extensively on behalf of IECnet and strongly believed that international exchange enriches both professional and personal development. He once said that IECnet was “his oxygen.”

Vincent’s passing is a great loss for his family, his friends, and the entire IECnet community. We extend our deepest condolences to his loved ones and to all colleagues who had the privilege of working with him.

On behalf of the entire IECnet network, we honor Vincent Domon’s memory. His leadership, his vision and his contribution to IECnet will never be forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers are with his sons and his family.

    May he rest in peace.

The Forum of Firms held its mid-year meeting in New York from 2 to 4 June 2026. IECnet Chairman Vincent Domon attended the meeting. Among the key topics on the agenda was the use of AI by audit firms, with a particular focus on the FRC's supervision approach: the UK regulator published landmark guidance earlier this year on the use of generative and agentic AI in audit engagements - the first of its kind globally - making clear that human auditors remain fully accountable regardless of the tools deployed. CPAB presented its latest inspection findings, noting a continued decline in significant audit deficiencies across Canadian firms. A Middle East regulatory update highlighted the rapidly evolving compliance landscape in the region, including new coordinated audit quality inspections across the UAE. Finally, delegates discussed the involvement of key players, including development partners, PAOs, and supreme audit institutions, in driving forward the implementation of IPSAS standards worldwide.

The Catalan Association of Accountants and Management (ACCID) has awarded Frederic Borràs its Lifetime Professional Achievement Award, recognizing outstanding careers in accounting and business management.

Frederic Borràs has had a distinguished career in Spain and internationally. A former IECnet board member and Chairman of its Audit Committee, he also served on IFAC's Transnational Auditors Committee. Earlier in his career, he served as Managing Partner for KPMG in Catalonia, before joining Morera Asesores y Auditores.

Academically, he holds a PhD from the University of Barcelona, where he taught for over 30 years, an MBA from ESADE, and is a CPA (USA). He is currently a member of the Royal European Academy of Doctors, among other affiliations. ACCID counts 11,400 members across Catalonia.

IECnet warmly congratulates Frederic on this well-deserved recognition of his outstanding professional achievements!

Yanjun Sun was the founder and driving force behind Star (Shanghai) Accounting & Consulting Co., Ltd., a firm he established in 2007 in Shanghai. As he once said: “Being part of IECnet means exchanging ideas, learning from fellow professionals, and growing together as an international community — all while staying grounded in our local strengths.”

Within IECnet, Yanjun was a valued colleague and a respected member of our international network. He believed deeply in the power of global cooperation between independent firms. His firm joined IECnet with the aim of strengthening international collaboration and supporting foreign businesses operating in China. Yanjun embodied this spirit through his openness, curiosity, and genuine interest in colleagues from around the world. In 2023, he became member of the IECne(x)t Working Group and has contributed many ideas and projects to the group. The IECnet members remember him not only as a highly competent professional but also as a warm and engaging personality who enjoyed sharing stories, ideas, laughter and the love for football!

Yanjun’s passing is a great loss for his family, for the Star team in Shanghai, and for the entire IECnet community. We extend our deepest condolences to his loved ones and to all colleagues who had the privilege of working with him.
