It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Oboud Abubakr Baeshen, Founder and Chairman of Oboud Baeshen & Co. Mr. Baeshen, aged 92, peacefully departed this world on Sunday, 6 July 2025, leaving behind a profound legacy of leadership, integrity, and generosity.

Mr. Baeshen was not merely a distinguished professional; he was a visionary who dedicated his life to the development of the accounting profession in Saudi Arabia and beyond. As Founder and Chairman of his firm, established in 1992, he combined deep expertise with a strong commitment to quality and ethics, earning the trust of clients and peers throughout the region.

He was an esteemed member of the IECnet family since 1993 and had become an Honorary Member, reflecting his longstanding contribution to our network. Since 2008, he was also a member of the Appeal Committee. His presence at IECnet events was always marked by wisdom, kindness, and sincere interest in others. Colleagues will fondly remember his warm smile, his readiness to share insights from decades of experience, and his unwavering belief in the value of international collaboration.

Mr. Baeshen served as a role model for many. He established the office in 1992, followed by extensive professional certifications and a career that spanned public and private sectors, including significant roles in the Saudi Organization for Chartered and Professional Accountants (SOCPA) of which he was a founding member. His work advanced not only his firm but also the standards of the profession in his country.

In his memory, we reflect not only on his outstanding professional achievements but also on the grace and dignity with which he conducted his life. His absence will be deeply felt within the IECnet community and the wider professional world, but his legacy of excellence and humanity will continue to inspire future generations.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family, colleagues, and friends during this difficult time. May they find comfort in knowing that Mr. Baeshen’s work and spirit will live on, leaving an indelible mark on the profession and the lives he touched so deeply.

Rest in peace, dear Oboud. You will be sorely missed, but your impact on this world will be remembered forever.

This year’s EMEA took place in Rabat, Morocco, bringing together 40 participants from 16 member firms across 15 countries. The agenda offered a diverse and forward-looking program, addressing key developments and challenges facing the profession.

Core topics included the auditing of sustainability reports in the context of the CSRD, trends in green taxation, and strategies for digital transformation supported by artificial intelligence. The program was complemented by practical workshops on governance and firm positioning.

In addition to professional exchange, participants enjoyed experiencing Moroccan culture together – a highlight that contributed greatly to the success of the event.

In May, our Executive Vice Chairman, Daniel Ziska, had the pleasure of visiting our member firm Detay in Ankara, Türkiye. During his visit, he met with Ercan Durgun and his dedicated team, who warmly welcomed him and shared valuable insights into their work and the local business landscape.

Detay is well known for its strong expertise in audit, tax, and accounting services, and serves a wide range of clients, particularly from Ankara’s thriving construction sector. With Türkiye’s capital city experiencing continued growth and development, the demand for reliable financial and regulatory support remains high — and Detay plays a key role in supporting these dynamic businesses.

The visit provided an excellent opportunity to deepen relationships, exchange perspectives, and reaffirm the strong collaboration within our international network.

IECnet holds its position among the Top 30 global Networks, according to the new IAB rankings - with room to develop stronger!

IECnet, with a membership spanning over 72 firms (in 2024) across 60 countries, has reported a total turnover of 176.022.275 USD for 2023/24. Regionally, Europe leads with 59,98%, followed by the Asia Pacific at 28,63%. Middle East and Latin America contribute 3,35% and 3,19%, respectively, while North America holds a share of 3,24%, and Africa contributes with 1,6%. These figures illustrate IECnet's diverse global presence and its practical approach to international professional services.
