During the General Assembly, the IECnet Vice Chairman presented the new board composition with Wilfred van der Werf-van Dijk as new Board member as the EMEA & APAC representative. This new composition reflects IECnet efforts to stay ahead of the network's challenges and needs.

Alpha Auditors (Greece) was elected Member of the Year 2025/2026. Dimitrios, Timotheos, Christina, Michael and all the team have stood out this year for their special commitment to IECnet and have organized a successful TEAM in beautiful Thessaloniki in September 2025. Congratulations, Alpha Auditors! 

Following the first day of the General Assembly, the second day offered a diverse and insightful program. The sessions opened with an overview of global real estate trends and a presentation on recent activities and developments with IECnet life.

The discussions then turned toward modern communication, highlighting what works and what doesn’t in social media, followed by a panel discussion on current HR challenges and how to balance candidate expectations with business needs.

The afternoon sessions explored the evolving role of AI in the legal profession and the management of mass passenger claims in Germany. The day concluded with an interactive speed dating session that encouraged networking and collaboration among IECnet members.

During the General Assembly, we welcomed Dimitrios Plastaras and Timotheos Vlachopoulos from Alpha Auditors (Greece), Balaram Vuchidi from Spectrum Auditing (UAE) and Vinayaka Hanagodu from 4i Advisory as new members.

25 September was IECnet Day: the network was founded 38 years ago. All members were invited to celebrate the day with their employees. With success! A lot of member firms sent their contributions: they celebrated with delicious looking cakes and muffins with the IECnet logo, video messages on all social media channels and VHM Audit even spent a day with residents of Interact Contour, an organization that provides housing and care to people with acquired brain disorders. Thank you for all your colorful and cheerful contributions! 

   

The TEAM took place in the beautiful city of Thessaloniki, from 18–20 September. It was a special pleasure to welcome the many young faces from the different IECnet member firms. 
Amidst the historic charm of Thessaloniki, where ancient heritage meets a modern city, the event gathered young professionals from member firms. Participants gained valuable insights into AI and data analysis in audit and tax, deepened their knowledge through a case study on consolidated financial statements, and strengthened connections during an engaging and fun team-building session.

From 4–6 September, our members from across the Americas gathered for the AMER 2025 for valuable exchanges in Puerto Varas, Chile.

Surrounded by the breathtaking landscapes of lakes and volcanoes, the meeting blended professional insights with cultural experiences. From AI’s impact on accounting, taxation, and auditing, insights on different Latin American Countries stituations, to an interesting look at the Salmon industry, the discussions were engaging among members.

It was a special pleasure to have Marlon Apen and Rocio Solis E. from our new member firm Apen & Asociados, Guatemala, at their very first AMER Meeting!

Fiona Campbell became Chair of the Forum of Firms in July 2025. A Partner at EY Melbourne with over 30 years’ audit experience, she has worked with listed and private multinational clients across sectors and led audit teams in Australia, Asia Pacific, and globally.

She served six years on the International Auditing & Assurance Standards Board, including as Deputy Chair, and has long been active on nonprofit boards and audit committees. Co-author of a widely used Australian auditing textbook, she is strongly committed to the Forum’s mission of advancing consistent, high-quality audits worldwide to strengthen trust in financial reporting.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Oboud Abubakr Baeshen, Founder and Chairman of Oboud Baeshen & Co. Mr. Baeshen, aged 92, peacefully departed this world on Sunday, 6 July 2025, leaving behind a profound legacy of leadership, integrity, and generosity.

Mr. Baeshen was not merely a distinguished professional; he was a visionary who dedicated his life to the development of the accounting profession in Saudi Arabia and beyond. As Founder and Chairman of his firm, established in 1992, he combined deep expertise with a strong commitment to quality and ethics, earning the trust of clients and peers throughout the region.

He was an esteemed member of the IECnet family since 1993 and had become an Honorary Member, reflecting his longstanding contribution to our network. Since 2008, he was also a member of the Appeal Committee. His presence at IECnet events was always marked by wisdom, kindness, and sincere interest in others. Colleagues will fondly remember his warm smile, his readiness to share insights from decades of experience, and his unwavering belief in the value of international collaboration.

Mr. Baeshen served as a role model for many. He established the office in 1992, followed by extensive professional certifications and a career that spanned public and private sectors, including significant roles in the Saudi Organization for Chartered and Professional Accountants (SOCPA) of which he was a founding member. His work advanced not only his firm but also the standards of the profession in his country.

In his memory, we reflect not only on his outstanding professional achievements but also on the grace and dignity with which he conducted his life. His absence will be deeply felt within the IECnet community and the wider professional world, but his legacy of excellence and humanity will continue to inspire future generations.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family, colleagues, and friends during this difficult time. May they find comfort in knowing that Mr. Baeshen’s work and spirit will live on, leaving an indelible mark on the profession and the lives he touched so deeply.

Rest in peace, dear Oboud. You will be sorely missed, but your impact on this world will be remembered forever.

Meaningful exchanges, cultural depth, and a shared spirit of progress – that was the APAC 2025 in Tokyo! Our time in Japan brought together members from across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond – for insightful conversations, strategic updates, and a renewed sense of connection. 

In a fast-changing global environment, the value of international collaboration becomes even clearer. Events like this not only foster professional alignment, but also build trust, friendships, and perspective. 

From inspiring presentations to exploring the vibrant contrast of tradition and innovation that defines Tokyo – this meeting reminded us of the power of networks rooted in both expertise and openness.
